- (John Demers) A (pending final video) I found John from another knottie shortly after I got engaged. He had done a lot of work for business/commercial videography and was looking to build a wedding portfolio. He was offering a decent package for $500! He wasn't intrusive- in fact I barely noticed him around that day.

- (Craig) A: I have not received my final video yet, but I'm very happy with Craig. The package I signed up for had 2 cameras, but he brought and used 3 (at no extra charge) for my wedding. He really had an eye for good shots. He got one of us kissing in front of the castle with the sun in the most perfect spot (he showed us the digital image right on the camera after). He was also very patient with my photographer who I think had the impression Craig was in his way (although he needed shots as well).

- No stars for this company. BRIDES PLEASE BEWARE! Avoid the owner and company at all costs. My husband and I hired them as the videographer for our 2006 wedding. The videographer did not show up until 4-hours into the wedding. He missed the entire ceremony, the introductions, the best-man/maids-of-honor speeches, and to top it off, the first thing he did when he arrived was to sit down and eat the meal we paid for! It took 8-months, and 30+ emails, phone calls and letters, a visit to his RI office to speak with the owner, and a trip to the court house to pick up paperwork for a small claims suit in order to get our money refunded and our video sent. After all of this, he issued a resentful, one-line apology in a letter (the only one we have received). The completed video was a disaster, and the only bright spots came from the supplemented photos that our very talented photographer (non-associated with A Better Sound) allowed us to use in the video. You would think after a year and a half we would have put this behind us. We had, but unfortunately the owner of A Better Sound is now using illegal photographs of my husband and I in his 2008 magazine advertisements!!!! These photographs were the ones taken by our independent photographer. A Better Sound and the owner have no rights to these photos, and the owner is now advertising them as his own! These stolen photographs can be seen in Boston Magazine and Rhode Island Bride Monthly. The photos are not his work!!! So, to make a long story short, save yourselves the headaches ladies...stay far away!!!!!

- A+: We hired Rebecca to do just raw footage, and she went above and beyond and gave us an edited video for no extra cost in addition to the raw footage because she said our wedding was too beautiful not to edit. The edited video was amazing!!! We saw a sample from her over a year ago and to say her videos have come a long way would be an understatement...she really is also a GREAT value, and also so nice and easy to work with. And not in our face at all. The video even made DH cry!

- A-: I had seen a lot of brides who were either considering using Dele, or who had booked him but not yet had their wedding - so I feel like I'm posting the first review on him (if not, I stand corrected). Dele was the most attentive of all the vendors I booked. I spoke with him several times in the 2 weeks leading up to the wedding and he is very friendly. He takes stringent notes. It's going to take several months before I get the video, which is a bit frustrating, BUT I was aware of that before I booked him. The one reason he gets the minus is that he blocked my husband's view of me walking down the aisle, and I didn't know it until my hubby told me while we were on our Honeymoon. Again, I'll post a follow up once I have my video.

- A+: Though we don't have our video yet I already know that it'll be amazing. We hired the same videographer my brother-in-law used for his wedding last summer. Their video was breathtaking and I know he'll provide us with the same great quality. He also made our intro slide show for us. It brought half of the room to tears! He also worked with our DJ to transition from the video into our introduction. I rarely noticed the cameras the entire day and I think the only time we talked to him was at the end of the night when we said bye. I can't wait to see our video!!

Huge rave for Fade and Focus. I got my wedding video a month ago and i've already watched it a zillion times. It's so much fun to relive our wedding day. Ryan and Matt (co-owners) were an absolute pleasure to work with. They captured everything beautifully and we hardly even noticed they were there. As we watched the video we were amazed at how they were able to capture a lot of close-up and interesting angles without being noticed (maybe there was a hidden camera in the cake or something haha)! There are no cheesy effects, just a beautiful and classy represention of our day. Ryan and Matt are super responsive to emails, and the correspondence was always professional and friendly. Their prices have gone up since I booked them, but they are flexible with their packages and can probably customize something to fit in your budget. Trust me, the video was worth every penny!

- Fran was booked without even us meeting with him. His work is amazing (I think I got the referral here) and when I finally met him a month ago I knew we made the right choice. He listened to what we wanted and did an amazing job going unnoticed and getting some wonderful shots....Tom his assistant was terrific too.....I know I will be raving about him when I get my video.

- 10: (Michelle McNamara) Michelle is such a sweetheart. I didn’t even meet with her before the wedding, but I was so confident after speaking with her on the phone and via email, and with all her positive reviews on these boards. She came early and stayed until the last dance...she was always right there, but never in our faces. She says only 2 months for the video, which is much shorter than most...I can’t wait to see it!
Update: Received our video on 2/16/07....to say we are pleased would be the understatement of the year!! Michelle and her husband were such a pleasure to work with, no annoying bright lights/interviews or anything like that, just a truly classy documentation of our day; and you can't beat getting your video only 2 months after your wedding. We still have friends who were married last August still waiting on theirs... It was so wonderful to see what was going on inside the church while I was waiting in the limo, mh's face when I came down the aisle, our first dance...we will always treasure having those moments captured to relive over and over again!

- Of all the sample videos I looked at, I loved Michelle McNamara's from Fresh Focus Video the best. I loved her artistic style and she was very responsive to emails and was willing to try incorporating more live sound into the finished product. She is also reasonably priced. Unfortunately for me (but great for her!) she was very pregnant by the time my wedding came around so she sent two other videographers in her place- they were very courteous and most of the time we didn't even notice they were there. Since Michelle is editing the video, I am hoping it will come out as great as the samples. My only complaint is that one of the videographers was late because she got lost and my father had to go out while we were in the middle of taking pictures, and find her. I felt sorry because she was really nice and she was upset for being late, but vendors like this really need to invest in a GPS system. This was the only vendor for which I had to provide directions in advance to and from every stop on that day- something I found a bit stressful with everything else I needed to do regarding the wedding. GPS system!! I was on the phone with her trying to direct her- not something I wanted to do that day. I will post another review when I get the video- I'm pretty sure it will be great.

- (Pending video) Michelle was great to work with. The entire process was great. Her eye for the creative aspect of everything is amazing. I will write more when I see my video.

- (Pending video) 10: I absolutely love Michelle. She is such a sweetheart and has been great to work with. We had an initial meeting with her and we discussed what elements I liked/didn't like in videos, and she took notes (more than I can say for some other people) before we even booked her. I can't WAIT to see the video!

Mark Willand

Reviews:

- A+ (pending video): Mark is definitely not an in-your-face videographer. It was clear that he knew what he was doing and that he knew how to get some great shots without getting in our photographer?s way. Just like with Scott, whenever I was thinking oh man we totally need to get this on camera, there was Mark already taking a video. He came with an assistant videographer Bill that stayed through the first dance, and he was really nice too and got some great getting ready shots of us. Based on previous work that I?ve seen, I can only guess that our video is going to be great. I can?t wait to see it!

- A+: (pending video) Russel was so sweet and easy to work with. I know he captured every moment, yet we barely knew he was there. His prices are great and I'm sure his work will be as well. At the end of the evening he was so sweet and let us know how much he enjoyed our wedding and how easy it was to film because we never left the dance floor!

- I recently received my wedding video from Mavid Productions, and I thought it might be helpful to post a review. We watched the video several times with family and friends, and we love it! Russell captured all the pivotal moments of the night, while also managing to capture all those "little" details that I worked so hard on! It was great to see everything on video... we were able to experience the day/night all over again! Russell was great to work with during the planning process, and he was very unobtrusive during our day. He was also kind enough to come early (we did pictures before our ceremony), and he did not charge us. (Although, he was 15 minutes late, but apologized profusely.) We were originally quoted 8 weeks for our video, but it actually took 18 weeks for us to get it. Russell did give us an update when I asked, and threw in some additional service (i.e. scene selection screen) for no charge. Originally, a videographer was not in our budget. But, I decided that I really wanted one, and I am SO GLAD that I did. I missed so many things that I was able to watch on the video. (i.e. My 19-month old niece - our flower girl - walking down the aisle.) If you are on the fence about videography, I would definitely recommend it. We were looking for a reasonably priced option that would nicely capture our day. We found that with Russell and Mavid Productions.

- A (Pending Video): We never worked a videographer into our budget, but after talking to other brides I knew we needed a videographer. Russell was very easy to work with and got in touch with me about 2 weeks before the wedding to go over the fine details of the wedding day. Russell and my photographers worked really well together and Russell never missed a beat the day of the wedding and was very professional. I just can't wait for our video now!!

- We got our wedding video and I just wanted to share what an amazing job Sean did. The video was about an hour, with chapters of all the important events and it came out amazing (made MH & I cry!). He's just starting out in the wedding video business but don't have that cause for hesitation to book him. He really learns what you want and really listens to you. He wasn't in anyone’s way but he got amazing video! Also, his pricing is amazing, so you can't beat it.

- A videographer was one thing I went back and forth on for so long and waited to the last minute to find one. I was having a hard time finding one in my budget and a knottie (Mrs RyansGirl) recommended him, I am so glad she did! Sean was awesome. Like our photographers, hewas there every minute, he didn't miss a beat. He worked so hard on Saturday (my parents couldn't get over him) and I hardly ever knew he was there. He blended in so well, but every time I looked up I'd see him out of the corner of my eye capturing everything on film. We are of course waiting on our video (patiently again! lol) but his demo was so impressive, so we can't wait to see what he is going to do with ours.

- Sean is just starting out in this business and as a result his prices are great! He is completely unobtrusive and very responsive to any questions you have. He got great footage and turned it around very quickly. I was really impressed with the music flow and the editing job... and he did a great slideshow of our honeymoon pictures at the end. I'm so happy to have this record of our day!

- A+ (pending video): I have not seen the video (it's been done for over a week just waiting on photos from my photog) but just seeing how hard he worked I know it will be great. He was never obtrusive or in our faces yet everytime something happened I'd look around to see if he was there and of course he always was. Even Dan who did not want a video was impressed. I can't wait to see the video! And for the price you can't beat what you get!

- C: Ok, the videographer was not one of my biggest priorities of the wedding, but we knew we definitely wanted one. We wanted full day coverage, 1 DVD, and wanted to pay $1K or less. All the video samples we looked at in this price range looked like either my 5 year old nephew or my 88 year old grandmother shot them. Seriously. Until we got Casey's video. It was amazing!! And she had a package with exactly what we wanted for exactly the price we wanted to pay. She was even voted Boston's Best. I obviously haven't seen the video yet, and I have no doubt it will be amazing but, I won't go into detail. The bad grade is completely based on communication.

- A: (pending video) J. was great to work with. He drove 3 hours to meet originally and was very professional and friendly. He was very flexible with his pricing too. A couple of days before the wedding we have a phone meeting to talk about what I would like him to focus on covering. He went through each part of the day to make sure he caught certain moments that I wanted him to. I haven't seen the video yet, but I have seen samples and have heard many wonderful things about him. I'll update this review when I receive the video.

- A+: Alan was out of this world! The best thing I liked about him approach was that I forgot he was there! I have met bad video guys at other weddings and almost went without one for my wedding because of it, but Mom was persitant that I find someone and I am so glad I found Alan. I got an idea about posting an add, which I did, and thatâ?Ts how I found Alan. He sent me a demo and honestly I have seen many finished products from friends weddings and about 15 minutes in I'm just bored.. I wasn't with his demo, I actually sat through the entire thing. It was edited so that you got the best parts, not just watching it minute by minute. I can't tell you how wonderful he was the day of the wedding, he wasn't pushy or in your face, but my friends keep telling me that when they did notice him he was right in on the action. You may notice that he is from Western MA, but he will travel and his price is very right!! I have to say the video came out absolutely FANTASTIC!!! Edited perfect can't say enought about this guy...

- I found Tim from a review another knottie gave him. I booked an appt. to check him out and at first I was a little worried that his prices were too good to be true. Well I’m happy that we chose Tim. Tim never got in any guests way and was very friendly. He put a slideshow of our birth–to–marriage pics which we played after dinner and it was a hit! Now I CAN’T wait to see our video.

- I just got my wedding video back, and it is so incredible!!! OMG I absolutely love it. Tim, from Video Visions Forever (in E. Bridgewater), did SUCH an incredible job!!!!! I gave him a solid recommendation even before receiving the video. On the day of the wedding, I noticed him once (with the exception of the interviews) the entire time. My mom & I had no idea where he was even standing at the church...we never even noticed him. So, we watched the video twice already & I'm sure we'll watch it a zillion times again this week. Videography is definitely a MUST DO!! Do not compromise on this...as much as my photographs are FANTASTIC, video is a completely different medium and gives you an entirely new perspective on the day. And a professional videographer has the right equipment to give you a quality product (i.e., lighting & sound). Video Visions Forever gives you a videojournalistic presentation of your wedding day. There are no cheesy graphics or effects. It's your day, as it happened, with live sound. I cannot tell you enough how HIGHLY I recommend my videographer...it means so much to me to have this video to share with my future children & grandchildren.

Well Spun Weddings

- Well Spun Weddings is actually out of Pennsylvania, but they have a guy in the Boston area. We chose them because they do the 8mm filming. We weren't really interested in the whole "video-look" and their sample DVD had a very artistic, unusual look we were after. Again, haven't seen it yet, but the owner, Jon, was very helpful and answered all my questions. We didn't meet with our camera operator before our day, but we are laid back and didn't feel we needed to do that. He ended up being great, his name is John as well. I know some of you wouldn't think of this of not meeting with the actual person beforehand, but their sample work impressed us so much, we didn't hesitate.
