- (Roger Kirk) I was very impressed with Roger and his DJing abilities. He is extremely organized, he met with me once, we emailed many times and he still have 2 phone conversations with me before the wedding to make sure everything was set. I love how he puts prices on his website, but i was on a budget and he gave me a deal but just because I payed less he did not try to take away anything, he gave it his all. I had my hesitations because DJing is not his full time job, but he has tons of experience, good equipment, and really just wanted to please DH and I by doing whatever we asked. Great job.

A Better Sound

Location: Boston, MA
Website: http://www.abettersound.com/
Reviews:

- Always check the Better Business Bureau before choosing a vendor. I didn't and booked A Better Sound out of Boston and Providence and the DJ they sent did a horrible job. He showed up late, introduced my husband by another man's name, his equipment shorted out 3 times while the dance floor was full and kept disappearing all night. When I called the owner to complain, his response was I was lucky a relative didn't die at my wedding. I reported him to the BBB and found out others had filed complaints against. If I had known that they had a rap sheet with the BBB, I would have never booked them. Don't let this happen to you.

Aaron Topfer

Website: http://www.1877yourmusic.com/
Reviews:

- A: I’ve never seen a bad review for Aaron. I’m certainly not going to start now! He played live piano for my ceremony and it was flawless; my guests marveled at the nice dinner music he played, and once the dancing began…. Well, the dance floor was packed all night. I picked Aaron because he’s low key and professional, and he respected my wishes against the Macarena and the Cha Cha Slide, among other things. He was excellent to work with.

- 10: Another rave review for Aaron. He played piano for our cocktail hour (which I didn’t get to hear, but heard he was great). He was perfect with pronouncing some tough Italian names and kept everyone dancing all night. He was also very flexible when we had to change a few things last minute which kept DH and I very calm!

- A: Aaron was great to work with. He is super organized and really knows what he is doing. Aaron played live for our ceremony and cocktail hour. It was beautiful. I gave him a play list and do not play list for the wedding and we got what we wanted. Everyone danced all night!

- A+: Aaron was a hit at our wedding! His piano playing during the ceremony and the jazz trio he arranged for us during the cocktail hour and dinner were just the right touch, and so many people commented on how perfect the volume was. Everyone said that they?ve been to weddings where the music is so loud you can?t even talk to the people next to you, but Aaron found the right balance between music and conversation. And the dance floor was packed all night and he got in all of our must plays. If I had to fault him on anything, it would just be that the version of Sweet Caroline he has could?ve been better (it was a live version whereas I would?ve liked the CD version) and he played a slower version of Bon Jovi's "Always" that we wanted, but if that's all that went wrong during my wedding, I think I can live with that. Aaron was a great DJ and I really appreciated all the time and effort he put into us prior to the wedding. It really ensured that we were on the same page music wise and that all of the little things were done correctly (e.g. pronounce names the right way, get the timeline down, etc.). Our wedding was hopping all night and I have Aaron to thank for that. He was an awesome DJ!

Antonio Viana, Classical Guitarist

Location: Millis, MA
Website: http://www.metrowestguitar.com/
Reviews:

- A+: Tony was fantastic. We hired just him and his classical guitar for the ceremony and cocktail hour. He was willing to learn specific songs we wanted that he didn't know, and was so easy to work with. I was a really laid back bride (with a few exceptions) and he and I worked well together. I'm sorry I didn't get to hear him when we were taking our pictures and everyone else got to enjoy it, but everyone has said that it tied in so well with our wedding. I love Tony and he adds the perfect touch.

- Brendan is such a professional and very personable! He was great to work with and I did not have to worry about a thing...he took care of the ceremony music and kept everything moving along. He was really easy going and had the perfect amount of interaction throughout the night. The music was fabulous and he listened to everything we liked and disliked. I highly recommend him!

Blaque Lyte

- A+: Blaque Lyte is a local jazz band that performed for our cocktail hour. People were actually sad when cocktail hour ended because they stopped playing. People were dancing even through our cocktail hour!

The Boston Kiltics

Location: Massachusetts
Website: http://www.bostonkiltics.com/
Reviews:

- They did a great job. Nate, the leader of the group we found at the Highland Games in NH last fall. We booked the band and we never even heard them. Just went on his description of what they do and we were floored. They were all very professional. We also had Nate (the leader of the group) play the bagpipe during our ceremony. They offer dancers as well, we did not partake of that aspect.

C-Zone Music

Reviews:

- (Greg Capozzi) A+ Our DJ was by far our FAVORITE vendor. He was so prefessional, fun and kept the dancefloor busy the entire night. I highly recommend him to anyone for any kind of event. He also brought a coleague of his to play the piano for the cocktail hour.. (I didn't get to hear her but our guests really enjoyed this).

- (Greg Capozzi) Greg is another favorite vendor. He was awesome, and we received a ton of compliments about how great he was. We hired Greg to DJ our ceremony music and reception as well as arrange a jazz trio for our cocktail hour. Greg was the perfect vendor in that he listened to everything we said, did everything that we asked and was excellent about changing and confirming details. We were looking for a low-key DJ; Greg was just that. He announced only the things we asked him to announce and otherwise we never heard him on the microphone. We gave him a playlist, and he played pretty much everything on that list and added other songs that fit in with the style. In addition, he gave us a CD of the music from our ceremony and other songs played at the wedding. I don't know if that is standard, but we really appreciated him doing that. We highly recommend Greg!

- (Ron Hernandez) A+: My husband and I have very off beat taste in music, but keeping the dance floor moving was important to me - like i said, crazy family. Ron took our requests, likes, dislikes, and vague references to genres and put together a great evening. once the party got started it didnt stop, he didn't talk over the music or call attention to himself, just manipulated the mood so when one group got tired the next one got up to dance.

Crackerjack Entertainment

Reviews:

- 10: Brett is fantastic! I had seen him at a wedding before that I attended along with my parents. At the end of the night we were all exhausted, and my parents said they had so much fun and couldn't remember the last time they'd danced so much. I knew at that moment I'd have Brett work my wedding, as that is exactly how I wanted all my guests to feel. Brett is extremely professional and great to work with. I was very specific about the kind of music I wanted played, and gracefully handled any requests for songs that didn?t fit what I had in mind. Everything went smoothly and people were dancing all night! The best part was that after it was all over, a friend of my parents' came up to me and said exactly what my parents had said two years ago.

Crazy Harry Productions

Reviews:

- A+: Harry was great. We did not give him a must play or a do not play list, instead we decided to have our guests make request and just partied all night. The dance floor was never empty and the place rocked all night.

Curtis Knight Entertainment

Location: Billerica, MA
Website: http://www.curtisknight.com/
Reviews:

- (Caryln) B+: Some songs they could not find so 2 days prior I got a call to bring these CD's. A little stress there. Day of minor skipping on CD's shared between DJ's. She did great at feeling out our group. We wanted more rock, punk, alternative, and different style music which can be hard to read the crowed to please everyone with these preferences. She did great. Wonderful personality, great to work with.

- (Mark C) A+: He did a great job keeping the crowd going & entertaining the Greek crowd with music also. He also offered to stay later at no charge since the power was out for about an hour.

- A: They did a great job! Everyone had so much fun! My issue was that I wanted to have all fathers and daughters join my dad and I during our dance and she forgot. I was really upset. She remembered at the end and it was too late. She did have all mothers and sons join Cory and MIL's dance. during my father daughter dance she started playing me and DH's song and then realized it was the wrong one and played the right one. I would still recommend them because I called to tell them what happened just so it wouldn't happen to anyone else and they offered us money back to rectify.

- A+: We used Curtis and Anna and they were fabulous. They kept the dance floor hopping, got all of our requests in, and kept us on schedule all night long, but without being there all the time. In addition to the reception, they also supplied the music and microphones for the ceremony, which was a huge bonus for us -- one less thing to have to worry about. We couldn?t have been happier with them. They went above in beyond in a couple of ways too -- at the end of the night, Curtis gave my husband a CD filled with all of the songs we requested during the ceremony and reception. Also, a complete surprise was in my email inbox the next morning. Curtis is an amateur photographer and he took pictures throughout the night and created a slideshow using our first dance and other songs we requested for the day. If you're looking for a great duo who will read their audience and know what to play to keep guests of all ages dancing the night away, Curtis and Anna are your folks!

Dave Lynch

Location: New Hampshire
Website: http://www.djdavelynch.com/
Reviews:

- A: Dave was great. He had a lot of personality and was fun to work with. It took him a while though to read the crowd and play the type of music that we wanted to dance to. From midnight to 1 am, EVERYONE was up dancing and we had a blast. He threw in a few surprises which were fun and we enjoyed. The idea that he had for the centerpiece give-a-way is a riot and we had a lot of fun with that. I would recommend him for someone who wants a party like atmosphere with an interactive DJ and not someone to simply play music and doesn't really want an entertainer.

- A+: Dj Dave Lynch was awesome! I went on the trusted opinions of fellow knotties and booked him. He was so eager to make the day the way you had envisioned and was so easy to work with. I think the best thing we did was just let him do his job and read the crowd and they loved his fun personality! Our favorite part was after our cake cutting he told us he had a surprise...he had us in the middle of the room, gave us each a bouquet, and a sox hat. He had us back to back and we werent supposed to turn around. He then proceeded to ask us questions about how well we knew each other, and if the statement resembled me, we had to raise the bouquet. If it resembled Dan, we had to raise the hat. Well, out of 20 questions, we only were different on 3 questions! (who snores more, who tips bigger and who hits the snooze more) It was one of the most memorable moments of our wedding and really showed us and our guests what a great match we were. We didnt know he was going to do this game and it made it even better, when we met him, he asked if he could do a surprise and we both agreed and we are so glad we did.

DJ addambombb

Location: Northampton, MA
Website: http://www.addamidiom.com/
Reviews:

- A+: Addam was GREAT. He was extremely professional and easy to work with, and he was very attentive to all details of the reception. He was careful to make sure he pronounced everyone's names correctly and that he knew exactly how we wanted to reception to go. He worked really well with all the other vendors on the wedding day and always made sure everyone was on the same page and knew what was supposed to be happening when. He was also very receptive to our must-play list and was really good at suggesting songs for reception moments that really fit with our taste in music. He was never hokey, but still had a great, up-beat energy when making any announcements. And most importantly he had everyone dancing ALL NIGHT. Our friends and our parents' friends all enjoyed the music he played and our wedding really turned into a fun, laid back dance party. I had so many people comment on how great the music was and how much fun they had. The reception ended at 9, but if we didn't have to clear out I'm pretty sure it could have gone on until midnight, people were having so much fun. He really seems to enjoy what he does and it shows. Also, he gives really great hugs.

DJ Danny Walsh

Location: South Dennis, MA
Website: http://www.djdannywalsh.com/
Reviews:

- I haven't ever read a bad review about Danny and that is why I chose him and he didn't disappoint. He was amazing! I think most everyone who was at the wedding was on the dance floor at some point. Plus he had this small, super-fan that he brought out because it was getting crowded (and a little hot) on the dance floor. It was great! I stood over it with my dress to cool down a little and it was the best thing ever! He was also great at keeping things flowing and not letting me forget that it was time for the toasts or cutting the cake. I think he worked really well with Old Yarmouth Inn to do that. He is such a professional and a nice guy too, he even helped us pack everything into our car after the reception ended.

DJ Keith Lemire

Location: Cape Cod, MA
Website: http://www.djkeithlemire.com/
Reviews:

- A+: FANTASTIC! Everyone is talking about a few things still, and Keith is one of them. He's so personable, and had people on the dance floor all night (including both my grandmothers and Dan's great-aunt!) He is/was (i forget) a Cape DJ so he really knows his stuff. He doesn't do any of the (IMO) annoying wedding stuff like the Chicken Dance. In fact it was one of the first things he said when we met him and I told him (jokingly) he was hired just for that. I HIGHLY recommend him as a DJ!

DJ Mike Janedy

Location: Boston, MA
Website: http://www.djmikejanedy.com/
Reviews:

- A+ Mike was wonderful. He wasn't intrusive at all. Perfectly involved, and I don't like DJs that are the center of attention. The dance floor was packed from the start. His price was great and he was SO easy to work with.

DJ Om

Location:
Website: http://www.deejayom.com/
Reviews:

- A-: Tarang Gosalia is amazing. He was our DJ for our Garba, and our reception. He is the only wedding DJ that I have ever seen who actually mixes the songs when making the song transitions. Everyone was on the dance floor for the entire garba on Friday, and again for the reception on Saturday. He played nothing cheesy (per our request), yet he made the night so fun and played a great mix of dance music and slow songs. Everyone was raving about him and asking who he was! The only reason I gave him the A- was because leading up to the wedding weekend, he was really hard to get in touch with. He emailed back, but it frequently took more than a few days to hear back from him. He is young though, and will grow professionally I am sure.

Entertainment Specialists

Location: Easton, MA
Website: http://www.entertainmentspecialists.com/
Reviews:

- (Victor Barruzza) A: Victor was FANTASTIC to work with. He and I clicked right away. I knew that he knew exactly what he was doing and had a passion for it when we met. He was very accessible via email and phone. Entertainment Specialists sends surveys to past brides but do not ask if they will be a reference. Victor worked hard to find me a few people I could contact. Regardless I was very comfortable booking him. My announcements were AWESOME, he played great music, and got me to the dance floor with my favorite songs. He got other people on the dance floor when I was dancing with my dad (we did NOT want to be the only ones out there). Basically, everything he said was necessary and facilitated the event but was not overpowering or cheesy in any way at all.

- (Jack Barros) A+: Jack was so great! He really made the wedding extremely fun!! Great prices as well. I would definitely reccommend him and the company to anyone. They were great!

- (John Zucco) B+: John is a fabulous DJ. I have seen him many times at parties. There were sound system issues our night and I don't know if that had to do with the rain or what, so it was probably not his fault. He missed a few of our requested songs, but kept the dance floor packed most of the night. He's a super nice person to work with, too.

Executive DJ

Location:
E-mail: Executivediscjockey@comcast.net
Reviews:

- A+: (Lou Auciello) We were worried about this part because we knew how important the music was for the partying aspect of the wedding. We have been to parties where Lou was the DJ and usually everyone is on the dance floor. But my husband and I like certain music and we wanted our night to be filled with our favorites and the crowd's favorites too. Well, we both sat down with Lou a week before the wedding and I could see that he was trying to get to know us and our style. We walked out of there and said to each other, "OK, he gets it." He did not disappoint- dancing all night and what fun it was to hear a song from my "play list" that I forgot I even put down. He is a true professional and he adhered to my every request. Everyone was chanting, "One more!" by the end of the night.

Festiva Strings

Reviews:

- A: I booked a cello and violin from Festiva Strings through Heart of Boston Entertainment. Steve Heimlick was the contact person from Festiva. They were wonderful. They played prior to the ceremony, during the ceremony, and for cocktail hour. Although I had never met with them (only a couple phone conversations) they did everything I wanted perfectly. They even played music at just the right time during the ceremony even though we changed it from what was on the program at the last minute.

Get Down Tonight Entertainment

Reviews:

- (Ben Woodhouse) A: Ben was great. He really kept things moving and making sure everyone had a great time. He even asked us if it was okay to play the Macarena and Chicken Dance since people had requested it. We only picked out a few songs and told him to choose the rest. He chose our intro, cake cutting, and garter/bouquet toss. He asked us in our meeting before hand what music we liked and since we listen mainly to country, he played some great country songs (She's a Hottie!).

- (Chad) I can’t say enough about Chad. He did an amazing job at our wedding!!! He kept everyone on the dance floor the whole night and played all the right music. I really stressed at first about the song selections, but with everything else that was going on with planning I let it go and decided that Chad knew what he was doing and he would do a great job. I’m glad I did just that. Chad knows his stuff and the music selections couldn’t have been any better. All I had to give him was our Do not play list. After the wedding was over we had guests come up to us and tell us what a great job he did.

- (Dave Pekarski) A+: Dave was fantastic!! I can’t say enough about how wonderful he made our night for us!! I have been getting so many great compliments on how well he mixed the music and kept the night going!! There was always at least 15-20 people on the dance floor and at times there was only 15-20 people in their seats!! He met with Marc and I about 1 month prior to the wedding. We had great conversation and felt very comfortable with him. He did tons of research for us finding all the songs we wanted and he even agreed to introduce our bridal party the way we wanted to with a different song for each couple! They got such a kick out of it and all the guests told us what a great idea it was!! He also found our sing to be introduced by! He has a great personality and was so fun with games and things to keep everyone going!! Again I can’t say enough!! He was wonderful!!

- (Jimmi Carter) AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! Jimmi worked with us to get just the right music for our very mixed group of guest. We didn’t want games or gimmicks or a cheesy DJ. Jimmi has a great speaking voice and was very professional. We had a Sunday afternoon wedding, and he had everyone up and dancing. Even the family who doesn't usually get up and dance was dancing.

Reviews:

- (Dave Williams) A+: Dave was a fantastic DJ. He was funny and personable both on the phone and at the pre-wedding meeting, and was great about accommodating our weird song requests. Bonus, most of the planninc could be done via an online form, which made it easy to go back and forth on choices. Day of, he was TOTALLY non-cheesy and unobtrusive, while still guiding the action. He took requests from each table individually and got almost all of them in before the end of the night, leaving the dance floor full. He clearly has tons of experience and made the reception flow seemlessly. The best part is, he's the "house" DJ at the Publick House, so we received a $200 discount for booking him there.

Groove Entertainment

Reviews:

(Joe Toto) A+: Joe Toto and the staff at Groove are the most professional/informative people we met during the wedding planning process. Joe walked us through the planning process recommending photography and videography. We used both his recommendations and loved both! Then there was the reception...WOW! Our wedding (thanks to Joe Toto) has been dubbed "party of the year" by our family and friends! He kept the music going all night and everyone loved it! He really feels out the crowd and plays all the right songs! The night was a complete success! WE HAD A BLAST!!!! You wont go wrong if you choose Joe Toto and Groove Entertainment!!! Best DJ out there by far!!!!! :)

Hi-TECH SOUND

- (Tom Johnson) We wanted a DJ that wouldn't be cheesy or overly aggressive. Tom was classy and followed our requests and no play list to the letter. He kept everyone- from our grandparents to our young cousins- dancing the entire night. He only really spoke when necessary and didn't feel the need to constantly emcee the event.

J & J Productions

Location: North Andover, MA
Website: http://www.jjprod.com/
Reviews:

- (Joe Mazza) C-: Joe was wonderful to work with during the months leading up to the wedding...but I was incredibly disappointed the day of the wedding. I didn't know it at the time, but he made some of our fully-dressed groomsmen help him with his equipment (staining one of their ties). He also set up super-cheesy bride and groom bears at the DJ table (not exactaly the vibe we were going for and didn't stick to our play list. We said we only wanted classic jazz during dinner. The first song he played was Beach Boys! WTF? Then he started to play other of our 'must play' dancing songs during dinner. My DOC and I had to go up to him numerous times to ask where the jazz was. We also had to approach him a few times to get him to turn down the music - it was ridiculously loud. Then, at one point he made a 'special dedication' to the father of the bride. He played "If I Was a Rich Man" from Fiddler on the Roof. Of course, he was the one that looked like an ass - DH and I paid for most of the wedding ourselves. I do like that Joe was talented enough to play the piano during our cocktail hour, but due to the epic screw-up during dinner/dancing I definitely do not recommend.

Kahootz

Location: Boston, MA
Website: http://www.bostonsbestband.com/
Reviews:

- A+: They are called Boston's Best Band for a reason. Both my DH and I are musicians and are VERY snobby about music in general. I am a singer, he is a drummer. They. Were. Incredible. The dance floor was never empty. They had to beg our guests to sit down for dinner. Kahootz is expensive but worth every single penny. We also hired them to play contemporary guitar and piano for the reception and a pianist for the cocktail hour. The main complement to the wedding from all of the guests so far have been about them.

- We chose the band based on a CD of 7 bands. While we thought they were the best band on the CD, they were even better live. I guess it was a weird request, but I told the band that I wanted them to play for the 1st half hour of the reception (while people were finding their seats & while we did the first dances). And then I did NOT want them to play until the cake was cut at the end of dinner. I just wanted quiet recorded music during dinner so people could comfortable talk across a table of 8. The band thought this was weird, but they obliged. The evening went wonderfully, and the band then played from cake cutting till the end of the reception straight, without any breaks. The 2 vocalists would get off the stage & sing on the dance floor. They'd go up to our guests & give them the microphone. We all had a really great time. The band even played an encore at the end of the evening.

Kathi Zerkle

Reviews:

- A: Kathi was a DJ at a friend's wedding, which was so, so fun, and she quoted an awesome price. We had a pretty long and specific list of songs and she made sure to play as many as she could. She kept the dance floor packed all night! She was hard to get ahold of a couple months before, which made me nervous, but when the time counted she made an extra effort to communicate with me. Her prices have gone up since I booked her, just so you know.

Lee Sylvestre (Guitarist)

Location: New Haven, CT
Website: http://www.leesylvestre.com/
Reviews:

- I don't remember where I found Lee, it was on some Knot board, maybe the R.I. board but I'm sooo glad I did. Lee was great right from the start when he actually learned part of the song I wanted to walk down the isle to so that I could hear how it sounded on the guitar. This was before I even booked him! He also was willing to learn additional songs (and change songs multiple times!) and was quick to respond to email. To be honest at the wedding I hardly heard him (I didn't hear anything going down the isle because I was so in the moment and we were taking pics during cocktail hour) but from what I heard he was very good. Plus he wasn't too loud, so it wasn't a distraction, he was like background music which is exactly what we wanted. Such a nice guy and talented guy and his pricing was crazy low.

Lisa Love Experience

Reviews:

- A+: DH and I knew from the very beginning that we were going to have live music for our wedding. DH is in a band himself so it only made sense for us to do it this way. We spent a lot of time contacting bands and listening to music. We were having a hard time finding someone that we really liked. Then one night DH suggested going to hear Lisa Love at Rockefeller's in Salem, MA. As soon as she opened her mouth we knew we had to have her. She sent us her info packet within days of our first meeting and we went back shortly after to have my parents hear her live. Lisa has played over 700 weddings in her time as a performer and I can't rave about them enough. Not only can Lisa sing but she is an amazing MC. She was able to really keep the guests dancing, literally our dance floor was full all night long. She was so easy to get in touch with through out the planning process and when I had concerns she was there to answer them. The list of songs they have available to play is extensive and really caters to people of all ages. They were fun and lively, never too loud during "quiet" times but really cranking when they wanted to get people to dance! If we had to choose a favorite vendor from our wedding Lisa Love would absolutely be it! Recommendation - Extremely High

Locomotion DJ

Reviews:

- Our DJ was great. He did a wonderful job at our reception. He got people up there dancing and he played all the songs we wanted to hear. He did make one little but kind of big mistake during our ceremony. He was suppose to play a certain song when I was coming down the aisle (which I picked out months ago) and instead he kept on repeating the song that the girls came down to. I stood there for a while waiting for my song.. then the photographer came back and said he didn't have it!! Oh well!! All in all he did a great job!!

- (Ernie Houle) A+: Ernie was incredible. He was great to work with . I had made videos to be played on 2 plasma during the daughter and son dances (it was of us growning up) and Ernie went above and beyond his contract to help us run them and make it all go smoothly. He was a fabulous DJ... the website is great and so organized for planning everything. I highly recommend him.

Main Event

Reviews:

- (Dave Nadeau) Great! Dave is wonderful. He was super easy to deal with and made the night fun. The only thing he forgot do to is an anniversary dance for my parents. I am a little upset over that but I can see where he would forget since the dance floor was never empty and we had people climbing the wooden columns. Yikes.

- (Joey Dion) A+: Joey was so good. It was important to me that my wedding was fun but still felt classy. He got people involved in such neat ways, and kept it going just long enough to not feel cheesy. He played great music and really listened to everything I wanted. Most importantly he pronounced everything perfectly and clearly. I still have people telling me I had a great DJ. Joey's cousin was getting married the same day as me, and after my reception was over he went to that wedding. Even though my wedding ended at 10pm you would never have thought he was in a hurry to get out of there.

- (Joey Dion-) A+: Joey could not have nailed our reception any better. The dance floor was packed all night and even our whole bridal party was out on the dance floor during dinner because we couldn't wait any longer. Even some of my Aunts and Unlces who never dance were dancing away! We received many compliments on Joey that night and he really made the reception memorable.

- (Kibar) I loved him. I got some feedback from guests that his mixing was rough, and that he had left to talk to a client on the phone for a while. I didn't notice, but I do remember requesting a few more slow songs that I got. He also gave Red Sox updates as requested, and got all the required activities in before the videographer left, which was great. He had great equipment, and even presented us with a surprise serenade. I would recommend him, I'm not sure all my guests would! His price level through Main Event is pretty reasonable.

- A: Alan did a great job keeping our guests on the dance floor. He was very non-obtrusive which is exactly what I wanted. He kept to our 'no play' list and was a pleasure to talk with during the planning.

- (DJ: Paul Natale, Ceremony musicians: Ensemble Aevia) I wanted a simple string duo who wouldn't mind playing a few special songs, and a dj who wouldn't try to make it HIS party with lame props, obnoxious chatter, smoke/strobe lights and such. Paul was amazing -he did the Governor's Ball last year- and was perfect -low key, played everything on our play list, and read the crowd enough to tailor the music to what they were enjoying. I'd recommend them to everyone!

Music on Wheels

Location: New Bedford, MA
Website: http://www.musiconwheels.us/
Reviews:

- A: Music on Wheels was booked for me by the coordinator at my venue about 2 months before the wedding when my original DJ cancelled on us. They were great to work with ahead of time and did everything I asked. They kept the dance floor packed all night. They took requests, and changed the song right away if people started to sit down during a song. I gave them an A rather than an A+ because I wasn't 100% thrilled with the Hawaiian Leis they passed out and some of the other silly props (straw hats, blow up guitar, etc). I also never expected them to break out the limo bar! My guests seemed to love it and have a great time, but it wasn't something they mentioned to me ahead of time, so I was caught by surprise.

Night Rhythm

- A+: I cannot say enough about this band. They were just so great. They had everyone and I mean everyone out on the dance floor all night. At one point the guitar player and lead singer were on the dance floor with everyone. I received more compliments on the band than anything else. People are still talking about them. We also had the Calvo Harp and Flute Duo perform at our ceremony. They are apart of Night Rhythm and they were amazing as well. They do monthly exhibitions and will send you a cd for you to check them out. We wake up to our cd every morning.

Paul DiPanfilo's Music Explosion

Location: North Reading, MA
Website: http://djpaul.djgold.com/
Reviews:

- When we met with Paul two weeks before the wedding, we were struck by how friendly and outgoing he was, but neither Patrick nor I really wanted a talkative DJ; our ideal was someone who would be able to read the crowd and pick music that would keep everyone up and dancing... Paul turned out to be the perfect DJ. The dancefloor was packed all night (with dancers ranging in age from 2 to 89!), he was a great (but understated) MC and handled our introductions and parent dances, and was an absolute pleasure to work with.

- (Tom Hawkins) A+: We loved Tom!! For some reason after hiring Tom I had some worry that he was going to be cheesy or bad ? mainly just because he wasn't Aaron Topfer who was the It DJ to get. All of my vendors were knottie recommended and I was a bit of a beebee when I first started planning and wanted only the ones that everyone was talking about because I didn't really know how else to find good vendors. Tom ended up being probably our favorite vendor! He was the only vendor that checked in with us over the year (almost all our vendors were booked 6-12 months in advance) just to see if we had any questions/concerns. He was also very proactive about getting in touch with us which was awesome because it was so nice to have one less thing to do. He called us a month prior to set up a final details call to go over everything we could think of, he called us exactly at the time he said he would. He did a great job the night of and the dance floor was packed the entire night. Even before the dance floor ?opened? people were up there dancing, he was awesome. And he just really wanted to make us happy. We love, love, love him! A good thing I learned, just because you don?t get the most talked about/recommended vendor doesn't mean that you won't get a fantastic one anyway.

- A+: Tom Hawkins is unbelievable!! He was the best dj! He played exactly what we asked him to and had the most professional set-up. He was amazing! and I would recommend him to EVERYONE!!

Ralph Funaro

Location: Lowell, MA
Website: http://home.comcast.net/~funarocalianno/
Reviews:

- A-: Ralph was my husband's former piano teacher. Also, he was my mom's lab partner in high school. Ralph gave us a great rate for doing the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. There were a few kinks though. The songs for the parent/bridal party/us were a bit choppy. When we got up for the father/daughter dance song (called Dance with me Daughter) he played the song DH and his mom were going to dance to. I had to ask him a few times to change the song! Otherwise he was fabulous. He kept the dance floor active and was good at covering the few kinks that happend. I gave him a do not play list. Some of the songs made it to the wedding- however, guests requested them. Ralph annonced after someone requested an odd song (the Hully Gully I think) that he would play it if people got up and danced. When a few of the older guests made there way to the floor he played their song. Overall I was happy because our guests were happy and everyone was up dancing. :) Despite my initial protest, there is even a picture of me doing the chicken dance!

Rareform Band

- I found Rareform through NorthStar Entertainment and am so glad that I did. I went to a wedding last year and they had a live band. It made the wedding so exciting and energetic that I knew if budget permitted, I wanted one as well. They sound just like the artists that they cover! It is unbelievable! My parents saw them play at the Atkinson and said that they are fantastic in person!

- Great Band! Everyone loved them. They were everything I had hoped for.

- A+: One word: WOW!!!! They were AMAZING. I am so glad I listened to all the reviews and took a chance. I swear if I hadn't known Johnny Cash was dead I would have thought he was singing at my wedding. People RAVED all night (still are) and more importantly the dance floor was packed from beginning to end. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

The Resophonics

Location: Massachusetts
Website: http://www.resophonics.com/
Reviews:

- The Resophonics are a folk/bluegrass band that we are big fans of and they graciously agreed to play at our wedding, even though it's not their thing. It was perfect. We aren't dancers and neither are our friends and a good portion of our family, so this was perfect for us. Our timeline went way off during the reception and so the time they played went haywire, but they were so flexible and accommodating. This band definitely set the tone of the party and everyone was psyched to have something different as well. They aren't for everyone though, but we did not have a traditional wedding at all, so it worked.

Rich DiMare

Location: Medford, MA
Website: http://www.myspace.com/richdimaremusic
Reviews:

- A: Rich is a family friend and was a great addition to the reception. During the cocktail hour, he performed with a trio singing Frank Sinatra songs. Rich made all of the wedding party announcements and was great with the guests. There were no cheesy props or line dances. Rich is very professional.

Ron Carpenito

Location: Boston, MA
Website: http://www.djroncarpenito.com/
Reviews:

- A+: I loved Ron. He is so nice and easy to work with. He takes his job very seriously and respects what you want. He has a great personailty and such charisma with the everyone. He meets with you a couple of times before the wedding and spends a lot of time listening to every single detail. He always got back in touch with us right away, if we had a question. He has great suggestions on songs and has a wonderful personality on the microphone. I love music and I gave him a big selection on songs I wanted to hear and he almost play all of them. The dance floor was packed all night. He played a wide variety of music for everyone. Even my older guest were up dancing all night. They mentioned they haven't had that much fun in years. I would highly recommend Ron to DJ your wedding. His website is @ djroncarpenito.com.

- A+: She was reccomended to us by our officiant and I am so glad! She is a music teacher by day and she did an amazing job during the ceremony! About a month before the wedding, she called to go over all the music selections. I didn't have any preferences, except that I did not want to walk down the aisle to Here Comes The Bride, I'm just not a fan. She had all sorts of reccomendations and if I didn't know a song by name, she sang it to me!! She really made it easy to chose all of the songs! And, she's what they call a strolling violinist, so she doesn't have to stop between songs. She was really great!!

Sean Hart

Reviews:

- B: We used Sean because he was a friend of a friend. We had originally signed up to use The Pros but then they were making me uneasy as The Pros does not permit contact with the DJ until a month or two before the wedding, which I found very strange. So we welcomed the opportunity to work with Sean. He is just getting into the business and although he has DJed before I am not sure how much experience he had doing weddings. I know he did a few before ours but I think he can get a little better with time. Having said that, he was extremely accommodating and would work his schedule around ours to meet up periodically during the weeks prior to the wedding. He was extremely personable and a lot of fun to be around, and we appreciated his services.

Spike Entertainment

Reviews:

- (Mike Shaw) He's a young kid, but fit the bill. We needed a DJ to handle the ceremony music and the dinner music before the band went on and I didn't want to pay a ton of money for a cheesy wedding DJ. He was nice and courteous. We didn't want him to talk or make announcements or any of that DJ-y stuff. He had a few flubs with music cues (due to inexperience), but was so nice you just had to go with it. I would recommend using him as we did, but would hesitate if you are looking for an experienced wedding DJ. I believe he does mostly high school dances, proms, sweet 16's, etc.

Reviews:

- A/b>: I honestly did not work with Steve much myself as my mom volunteered to handle getting and working with a piano player for the ceremony, so I can't say a whole lot about him. My mom said he was very easy to work with and seemed to be very available for phone calls whenever she had questions. The only thing I was really specific on is that I wanted portions of George Winston's version of Pachelbel's Canon played as both my processional and recessional. We were able to work with him to get the exact parts I had wanted and it went off flawlessly. Other than that I was so overwhelmed with other wedding decisions that we asked him to just pick some nice selections for the bridesmaid processional and for the time that he played before the ceremony. It was very nice working with a professional who had enough wedding experience under his belt that he could accommodate this request, and as far as I could tell he did a great job.

Two of Us - Guitar and Flute Duo

Location: East Bridgewater, MA
Website: http://www.twoofusduo.com/
Reviews:

- LOVED our musicians! Ceremony music was perfect and My husband and I do not dance so we had the duo (classical guitar and flute) play nice background music for the reception. They also had recorded music which was used for our first dance and the father/daughter dance. They did the bridal party introductions and brought microphones for the ceremony - so basically took care of everything, and they were great.
