- 10: I knew that I didn't want either of the two "main" bakeries, Konditormiester or Montilio's. I also tried The Icing on the Cake in Newton and couldn't get a hold of Dessertworks in Norwood. Though, none of that really matters, because after a tasting with Susan at Cake Connections, I was blown away by her cake! We got the Strawberry Grand Marnier and it is the best cake I've ever tasted in my life. Susan was great to work with, and came up with a design for my cake based on my dress.

- This is my only non-rave. The cake wasn't a huge thing for me, so I went more for affordablility. I ended up not really getting the cake I wanted. She called me at the hotel the day before the wedding because she couldn't remember if I wanted fondant or buttercream, we clarified I wanted a pink fondant cake with white swiss dots, and the floral arrangement on top (she was supposed to get there at the same time as the florist to do this) The cake ended up coming 4 hrs early so that meet up didn't happen so I had no topper on the cake, and to make it worse, it was a plain white fondant cake, no pink anywhere on it. So that was a disappointment (but I had a great candy buffet to make up for it!)

- A: Our cake was included with our catering package. We had to pay a little extra for the dark chocolate ganache frosting, but it was SO worth it! Our triple chocolate cake looked beautiful and tasted fantastic!

- A+: The cake was beautiful and delicious... the frosting is to die for. My only thing was I wished the pink detailing was a little darker because I felt like it didn't show up well against the white but that is my fault because I told them to make it that way. Just hard to visualize these things.

-A: Our cake was out of a dream. I met with Shara once for a tasting and sent her pictures via email and mail of the kind of cakes i liked. she hit the nail on the head and made the most beautiful cake i've ever seen. AND it tasted phenomenal. The cake was to feed 115 people (we had under 100 guests) but since there were 3 different kinds of cake people were eating more than one piece and almost every piece went. People were raving.

- A+: Sort of forgot about the cake until I saw it standing on our dance floor but it was perfect and exactly what I had envisioned. It tasted the same at our wedding as it did at our tasting and it was delicious. I wish I had time to eat a little more.

- (Shara) A+: My cake was so beautiful... and tasty... and cheap! I got a white cake with strawberries and butter cream frosting. Shara mimicked my china pattern beautifully (it matched my knife and server as well). My mom really liked the raspberry and lemon cake and my father only eats chocolate so I asked Shara to surprise them with a cupcake of their choice. I had forgotten about it entirely until I saw them come out at the reception and be placed at my parents table. She did this at no extra charge which was really nice.

- A+: Shara is WONDERFUL! She is so sweet and her cakes are delicious, and so reasonably priced. I cannot say enough good things about her.

- My fiance and I went to The Cupcake Boutique in Andover Friday night for a tasting and all that I can say is, it changed my life. Hehehe. I have never had better. I'm really picky when it comes to Carrot cake and cream cheese frosting, (my great-aunt makes the world's best.) I asked her for a bowl and spoon. Wow is all Lou and I could say through out the tasting. I'm not a fan of vanilla cake at all, I loved hers. Because it was the end of the day she had run out of the strawberry mouse filled cupcakes, so I went back on Saturday with my MOH before the expo. We picked up one of those and 5 others, every single one was amazing. I can not rave enough about this place. Oh and did I mention the price, under $300 for everything that we need. How freaking cool is that?

- My fiance and I just had a tasting at The Cupcake Boutique in Andover. Owned by Sharon Breighner she opened last May...so she is relativly new...she is advertised here on the knot. Everything was so wonderful I had to post about her... Not only does she do cupcakes but she also does cakes, wedding cakes, brownies, cookies, whoopie pies and other yummy things! After tasting with other bakers we knew hands down after tasting with her that she was the one. Everything was so amazing...and her presentation...the cupcakes looks so pretty that they scream, "EAT ME!" And her prices are so reasonable!!!! Her wedding cake starts at if I remember correctly $3.25 or $3.50 a slice.

-A: I looked far and wide for the right baker, since the cake is my favorite part of a wedding! I had my heart set on chocolate cake with some type of peanut butter filling. Most bakeries either wouldn’t work with peanut butter OR wanted to charge me $1000+ for a 4-tier cake that would feed 200. D’Amici’s made me a gorgeous cake for $800, exactly what I wanted.

- We're food snobs. We admit it. And the cake was really important to us. We tried Jacques Pastry, Konditor Meister, and Dessertworks. Dessertworks won hands down for two main reasons: the cake itself was the best, most and delicious flavor, and the pastry chef herself did our tasting, and understood immediatey about how we didn't want fondant, and suggested ganache or rolled chocolate as a frosting alternative. Our cake was a gorgeous chocolate ganache covered "day and night" cake, and people were asking for second pieces (and the per person slices are 1" x 4"!)

- A+: Everyone at the reception raved about the cake! We had the Bailey's Irish Crème and it was delicious! Diane did a wonderful job! We had a 4 tier 'dummy cake', with the top layer being the only real part. She then had sheet cakes in the back that they cut up to serve. This resulted in a lower cost and very moist cake! I loved the way it looked and the way it tasted!

-A+: Amy did an AMAZING job creating my dream cake. I ordered a much larger cake than needed for my 150 guests because I wanted it to be a focal point at the reception. The five tiered cake in PINK was not only stunning, but tasted DELICIOUS! We had two flavors: banana cake with dark and milk chocolate filling and vanilla cake with chai filling. Both were outstanding and people have been calling my mother over the last two weeks while we've been on our honeymoon asking where it was from.

-B+: Tasted great (most important to me), looked almost great. My mom and grandma loved it, but I thought it was a little too prissy.

-A+: Yummy, fabulous! Fantastic, did I mention yummy??? We had a four tiered cake, Orange Grand Marnier, which was gold cake laced with Grand Marnier and filled with orange butter cream. And they did an amazing job decorating it – I showed them a picture of some scrollwork that I wanted and then we talked about the colors, and the ribbon and it was great. Perfect! Again, easy to work with, no problems, basically went to the tasting, ordered the cake, one confirmation call, and that was all taken care of. They were able to copy the scrollwork exactly from a photograph that I provided. Paula was great!

- A: The cake was absolutely beautiful and exactly how they sketched it out to be. Their cakes are delicious and although I didn?t get to have a piece that night we ate the top tier the next day and it was sooo good. If you give them a 5x7 professional picture of your cake they also will give you a free top tier on your 1 year anniversary. I can't wait! Also, my fiance's sisters got my shower cake from them as well and I am still getting compliments on how incredibly beautiful it was. Their designs are gorgeous and the cakes taste great as well.

- Paula, the owner, was great - relaxed and very helpful when it came to pricing the cake and determining how much we should get. The cake was delicious and looked beautiful! We got many compliments on how tasty the cake was.

- A cake from Jacques was included as part of our package at The Wentworth. Jacques cakes tend to be decorated with flowers or designs either in buttercream or fondant. However, I had my heart set on a cake I'd seen by Martha Stewart. Her white cake was covered in coconut shavings. It looked like snow, which would be perfect for our winter wedding. When we had our tasting, they brought out coconut shavings for us to taste along with the cake & filling flavors. They agreed to cover the cake in coconut shavings & separate each layer with row of roses. My mom surprised us with a cake topper that is really a crystal Christmas tree topper. Jacques did a wonderful job of "burying" (into the cake) the 6 inch long part the goes on the top of the tree. I was a little leery about how the cake would turn out given that we were asking them to do something that is not really part of their repertoire. Everyone continues to comment on how great the cake looked. Oh, & it tasted fabulous as well. We did a spice cake with apple filling & chocolate with raspberry filling.

- A+: Jacques was wonderful to work with. The cake was exactly what I had wanted. I brought in a picture of a very detailed cake and they replicated it to the tiniest detail. I feel like you get your money's worth there too. Each slice is four layers on cake, three layers of filling, and a thick layer of buttercream. I could not have been happier with how the cake looked and tasted.

- A+: How could I rate Jacques with anything less. It was delicious, the tasting was great and the staff were very helpful. They didn't even mind when I called a month before the wedding to change our design.

- A+: I absolutely LOVED our cake. We originally went with a different cake and then I wanted something more funky and that fit our personalities so we decided to upgrade our cake. I had an idea of what it would look like, but I had to stop in the middle of our first dance and just stare at the cake because it was truly a piece of art and not only did it look good but tasted awesome!

-A+: Jenny was great to work with. We met her at her house and we explained exactly what we were looking for. We tasted a few flavors and they were yummy. Other than that, we didn't really have any contact with her. The morning of the wedding day was super hectic--we were taking pics around the inn and all of a sudden I turned around and saw the cake and just froze- it was PERFECT- exactly what we wanted (well, even better that I had thought it could look). I didn’t actually eat the cake at the wedding, but everyone was raving about it at the after party. The Emerson Inn saved the top tier for us, and since we got married in Boston but now live in Cali, we knew we couldn’t take it with us, so decided to have it for breakfast the next day- and let me tell you, it was AMAZING. Not too sugary- light and fluffy and delicious!

- B: I was pleased with the actual design on the cake and the taste of the cake. I met with John a week before the wedding. I told him I wanted to take the top layer home and asked if he would provide a box- he said he would. We talked about how I wanted the cake decorated. My florist was supposed to supply the flowers and John was supposed to decorate the cake. It wasn't anything that we had talked about. Part may have been my florist- but the layout of the flowers was still incorrect. Also, he didn't bring the box for the top layer. I had told the coordinator at Shaker Hills that 1. we were taking the to layer and 2. Cake baker would bring box. He told Janice we were not taking the top layer and to slice up all the cake. Luckily, Janice consulted with me and had a spare box. All in all a tasty cake and pretty scroll work. I think the cake was exposed for everyone to see for all of 5 minutes.

Klemm’s doesn’t have many choices when it comes to the cake, but the cake is very moist and very tasty. We chose a simple marble cake.

- My cake was beautiful and delicious!!! We received so many compliments on how good the cake tasted, even from those who don’t normally eat cake. The only issue I had with Konditor was that I had gone there 3 times and changed my cake design 3 times and for some reason they never trashed the previous 2 cake designs, they were still in file. So the last time I went there to pay my balance the girl came out with the wrong contract. So I had to tell her that that was my old design and if she could trash it. I'm glad I had gone in person to pay my balance otherwise I would’ve ended up with the wrong cake design on my wedding day, but other than that they were very friendly each time I went there and always let me have free cake when I went.

- A: Our cake came out beautiful! Only reason they didn’t get A+ is because their delivery charge was little on the high side ($80.00).But we had strawberry shortcake on the bottom, chocolate in the middle and strawberry again on the third & fourth layer (they will give the hall a box for your top layer of the take to take home).Everyone loved the cake, esp with the butter cream frosting. We paid $3.50 per slice but they start from $3.00 per slice.

- C: KM stressed me out. A LOT. They had horrible customer service. Every time I went in there girls were just standing around ignoring me. They could never find my paper work when I went in to pay the deposit or would call. After I deposited, they called to ask if I wanted them to be my cake vendor - uh why do you think I paid you last month?! They wrote down lavender when I pointed to a light blue cake and fought over semantics. Susan Normandin had to call and straighten them out. The cake came in the right color but I didn't like it. It had large polka dots on top layer instead of swiss dots, and it was too bubbly shaped instead of standing taller. Everyone else liked it and thought it tasted good but it was not worth the hassle and stress at all.

- A: The cake was Picture Perfect, literally. I had found a picture of this funky Halloween cake on line and I went back and forth with the design for months. Right before I had to give a final design I went with it! I said screw it lets have fun with it.. I was so afraid about what it would look like, but my worries faded as soon as I saw it come off the truck while I was getting dressed up stairs. IT WAS EXACTLY LIKE THE PICTURE I HAD GIVEN THEM.. And the taste was just divine. We had 3 layers: Top: Vanilla cake with strawberries Grand Manier filling, there was nothing left of this layer at the end. Middle: Chocolate cake with Raspberry Chambord filling Bottom: Carrot cake with a cream cheese filling (took the chance with this one but I LOVED IT!!) It was the talk of the night.

- I heard it was fabulous! But I only got a bite of the frosting on it! Hopefully when the country club re-orders our top layer we will get to try it!

- A+: the design was simple, the flavors fabulous, and the price was right.

- STUNNING... it was more wondeful than I thought and it was delicious.

- A+: The cake was soooo good! And it was absolutely gorgeous! It was exactly what I had thought up in my head!! We got three layers of marble cake with chocolate filling and the top layer is tiramasu, which I can not wait to eat in 1 year!! We got so many compliments on the cake. It was great!

- A+: People raved about the cake & cookie tray. It looked awesome, exactly how we designed it, and tasted great!!

Lisa on the other hand was excited about the challenge, we loved her enthusiasm. She also did a surprise grooms cake of my DHs car and everyone raved about it. -A+: We met with Anita whose father established the shop many years ago. She does all the wedding cakes. I knew I was going to go there as I grew up going to Mirabella's bakery since it was right down the street from my house. My mom used to take me there to get bread for dinner every Sunday after church and I would get a gingerbread cookie! They also have great Italian cookies! Anyway, my husband and I met with her a few months before the wedding with some ideas and photographs that I had printed out for her. She loved our ideas and was more than willing to try new things! The tasting was very yummy and we were able to pick three different flavors of cake for each layer! The cake ended up being beautiful and yummy (especially when I smashed it in my husband's face after he smashed it in mine!) Compliments all over the place!! I would recommend them to anyone. They were also named #1 Bakery in New England.

His prices were very reasonable and the cake looked beautiful and tasted delicious. We had two flavors, white cake with French buttercream, and ricotta chocolate chip. Sooo good!

- A+: Wow was our cake delicious! The next day my sisters were asking if there was any left over they loved it so much! The staff at Montilio?s was super nice and so helpful. Since one of our cake flavors was a little bit of a creation on my part, I wanted to try it, so Michelle at Montilio's arranged for us to get a sample to try. So I'm thinking it's going to be this little thing, but no, it was a full fledged cake. And they got it perfect! I was so looking forward to my cake, and Montilio's did not let me down. I hope my sample cake holds out until we get back from our honeymoon! I could totally go for some right now!

-A: I wanted a pretty, tasty cake that didn't cost a fortune - so I went to the place where we get our pastry for family get togethers. They designed my cake to look like a picture I had pulled from a magazine and it was beautiful. They don't have all the deluxe flavors and choices (bottom layer was chocolate cake with raspberry filling, middle layer was white cake with lemon filling, top layer was chocolate cake with frosting filling), and they do not have buttercream frosting - but I've gotten raves about our cake. Unfortunately, I didn't taste it aside from the cake cutting. The cake with delivery for 150 people was $250.

-We met with two bakeries before going here and had thought we decided on a cake until we tried theirs. We didn't know it at the time but they were actually voted Best of the Knot 2007. Pam (the owner) was so sweet and so easy to work with, and her cakes are to die for. I even ordered Chris's grooms cake for the rehearsal dinner there because after our cake tasting I couldn't order a cake from anywhere else. Both Chris's grooms cake and our wedding cake were picture perfect and tasted heavenly.
