-I prefer not to comment too much, as I don't feel I am done with this mess, so I will only say that I strongly do not recommend.

- I had posted to find someone local and not too expensive and someone recommended June. I paid $50 for alterations and my dress must have 8 to 10 layers and needed to be shortened quite a bit. I think June's been in business for about 35 years or so and could have easily been my grandmother. The dress came out perfectly.

- Chris is so talented and very nice. She took my dress in considerably (claiming they should have ordered me a smaller size), made me a beautiful bustle for my all lace veil and spent about 45 minutes with my MOH teaching her how to bustle it. It isn't easy! She was also able to fix the too short hem problem. I was so happy. My dress looks beautiful! All this for only $100. She has got to be the best seamstress out there.

- Chris is such a sweetheart and does amazing work for a very reasonable price!! She took in my bodice, added boning, hemmed and did a bustle all for $125. She works out of Quincy, which is a hike for me, but IMO it was all worth my money. She also did the alterations for 4 of my BM’s for $35 each. I tried on my dress 5 days before the wedding and my dress was a little big on me at the top. So I called Chris and asked her if she could take it in a bit at the last minute. Three days before my wedding I was at her house and she gladly took in my dress and didn’t charge me! I’m really really happy with her work. And the dress fit perfectly on my wedding day.

- A+: Chris is fantastic! Originally my aunt was supposed to do my alterations, but she just didn't have the time, so I had to scramble the beginning of June to find a seamstress. Chris was kind enough to squeeze me in to her busy schedule. I required minimal alterations (hem, bustle, and adding detachable straps). Her work is fantastic. My bustle was very simple for the girls to put up (7 sets of ties; all numbered to make it easier...no loops or hooks or buttons). I never ended up using the straps, but it was nice to have the option.

- A+: Chris is a vendor that lives up to the hype and raves on the board. She altered my dress and did a wonderful, wonderful job with my hem and one point bustle. She also altered my sisters BM dress, my SIL's BM Dress, my friend's BM dress, my mom's indian outfit for the garba, and my mom's friends indian outfit for the garba. She is AMAZING and charges next to nothing. She is so sweet and I plan on going to Chris for all of my alterations for years to come. It is true that her work space is disorganized and crazy messy- but who cares since she does such great work!

- 10: What can I say about Chris that hasn't already been said?! Amazing work for (almost) pennies. I met with her in December for the first fitting. One month later (and the Monday before the wedding) I went in for the second/final fitting. She gave me a bustle, took in the sides, and added a little crinoline-type-stuff to the bottom to give the dress a little more shape, all for (I think) $65. She also bustled my veil while we waited at the second fitting. I took my dress home and the next day panicked because I thought the top was still a little too big. The problem was that she was at the hospital with her daughter who was having a baby! She called me twice after getting my message, had me come over immediately, apologized profusely for missing that in the first place, fixed it within 24 hours, then refused to take any money for it. She is truly a sweetheart and a great seamstress (and dressmaker).

- A: Chris was FANTASTIC & CHEAP.. She did a great job.. I didn't need much done but I had the boob's taken in, beading under my arms removed and she added it to the front, hooks for the bussel and taken up a touch (honestly it was still a bit long but whatever) Don't let her studio scare you she's great!

- A: She gets lots of raves on the board and it is easy to see why. She has been doing this for 30 years and works out of her home in Quincy. Chris is a super sweet woman and was very accommodating. The work done on my dress was a bit detailed because of the sash crisscrossing and the bust needed to be taken in quite a bit. It was taken in, hemmed and bustled by Chris for only $150. The bustle was great, she made sure it stayed secured and did a great job of getting it lay flat (I didn't want a poofy butt or a big bow on my butt!). She is a total sweetheart too. Just be forewarned, where she works out of is a bit of a disaster!

- A+: As always, Chris is so wonderful to work with. She is very quick and her prices are a steal. I actually felt guilty about what she charged for all of the work she did on my dress. The woman knows her stuff.

- (Maria) A-: Maria did a beautiful job on my dress. She hemmed the dress, created a bustle, and sewed a slip in the dress (so it wouldn't itch me). The bustle she made was really pretty too. Anyone could pin it up, but she made 3 sets of really pretty bows with nice ribbon. I was a little surprised by the cost for alterations ($220... about half the cost of my dress). I asked around though and I guess that price is fairly normal for wedding dresses.

- A+: Ginny is my hero!!! I came to Ginny with my mothers wedding dress that was old, yellow and had weird lacey arms and she transformed it into a beautiful strapless white dress. Virginia also altered my reception dress when I lost weight a few weeks before the wedding. She is so sweet and makes you feel like a princess. Her prices are also very reasonable.

- My gown and my Mom's gown were altered by Janith Bergeron (Designs by Janith and The Sewing Tree are her companies) out of Barrington, NH...just outside of Durham and Dover. She was fantastic. My gown was $222 for all the alterations and bustle, and I'm not sure what my Mom's should have been (hers was free due to a freak mishap that Janith went above and beyond to fix...she refused to take payment even after all she did to correct the issue, but my Mom gave her $100 anyways for all she did...which was all the night before the wedding, and she drove from Barrington to Hudson to pick up and drop off the gown for my Mom).

Dressmaking by Dolly

- I love Dolly. She is absolutely wonderful. She was the BEST recommendation I got on the NH board. She makes you feel very comfortable and is persistent on every detail. Her prices are unbeatable. She fixed all my beading on my dress, did a bustle and altered a sash for me for $70. The only thing that was a slight issue, was the fact I had to go back multiple times and there was nothing done to my dress between the times I went. But given the fact that I didn't have to pay for the amount of times I was there and the amazing job she did, it was all good. I would defiantly tell everyone in the area that they NEED to go to her.

- I already miss my weekly appointments with Dolly. She is wonderful. She did so much to my dress even though it didn't need anything but a bustle but even the smallest thing will catch her eye and she goes for it. She made my mom's dress from scratch and it came out beautiful. I would recommend her to anyone. She is so reasonable and so wonderful.

- I heard of Dolly by many girls on the knot and I'm happy I went to her. My mom's seamstress charged her so much and my sister's seamstress messed up on her hem. I went to Dolly and she did my bustle and while I was there she repaired a broken zipper on my favorite pair of capris and only charged me $10 for that. I took my sisters dress to her the week of the wedding and she sewed in cups that fit perfectly and she was so happy with it. She is a very pleasant woman who loves what she does. I'm a BM in a wedding next October and I won't hesitate to go to Dolly for alterations for that dress, she said she does more than dresses so I think I'm going to bring her my pants to get hemmed too.. YAY.

- C: I got my dress and my daughter's dress altered by her. Her prices are fantastic, but at the same time, you get what you pay for. I was very uncomfortable the whole night because she took the top in to tight, and we actually fought about it at a fitting. She told me that "it was supposed to look like that". She ended up letting it out, but not enough. I felt like the work that she did made my dress look messy, and my dress was pressed very badly. Looking back at pics before I even put the dress on there were wrinkles upon wrinkles all over it. My daughters dress was very wrinkly too. She does let her brides use her petticoats free of charge, which I liked. I don't think that I would recommend her.

- I was really happy with the alterations done at Maggie Flood in Sudbury. The two sisters who own the shop have been in business for over twenty years and specialize in custom-made dresses. They're so funny and very practical. I bought my gown at La Reine but didn't want it altered there (heard it was wicked expensive and that the lady wasn't really nice). I didn't need a lot of work done, basically just a bustle, bra cups sewn in, and all the beading tightened and loose threads secured. It was only $60! Way less than I budgeted for. They also took another dress of mine in about two sizes, and altered my mom's MOB dress - all the work was great and really reasonably priced. I definitely recommend them.

Rosa's Customized Tailoring

Reviews:

- The seamstress who did my dress not only did a fabulous job on my dress, but she also did an impromptu last-minute fix on one of my bridesmaid's dress. My friend had asked her seamstress (out of town, in a rural area) to put in bust-cups, but the seamstress didn't have any, so she had cut what we think (we're really not sure) were shoulder pads in half, and then tacked these in as a pseudo bust-cup. They didn't quite look right, leaving a sort of horizontal shelf across the dress and my friend was understandably a bit stressed about it. Rosa took a look at the job, tut-tutted a bit about the other seamstress, and then fixed everything there on the spot with new materials, all 2 days before the wedding.
